31st May, Erasmus+ Regional Information Day was held at University of “Ismail Qemali” in Vlora. More than 230 young people, students and professors attended on this activity, who expressed great interest in the application steps and the criteria. The rector of University of Vlora, Roland Zisi and Coordinator of National Office of Erasmus+, Aida Breti welcome the participants in the presence of the invited representative of EU delegation, Xheni Sinakoli. The activity was built in three main sessions; Erasmus+ Opportunities to support the capacities building in higher education, applying for International Credit mobility and Erasmus Mundus Join Master Degree, and Best Practices were discussed with the International Office to maximize opportunities from Erasmus+ in a round table.  

At the entrance of the University, an Erasmus+ information fair was organized.

On 31st May, 2019, the staff of National Erasmus+ Office conducted impact field monitoring mission to the CBHE funded project “Developing Teacher Competencies for a Comprehensive Vet System in Albania” (TEAVET) and advisory monitoring visit to the CBHE project “Reforming doctoral studies in Montenegro and Albania – good practice paradigm” (MARDS). Both projects have a great structural importance and the Ministry of Education is one of their patrons. The aim of the visit was to learn about the project outcomes realized and their impact and sustainability prospects with a focus on capacity building and quality of teaching.

The visit consisted of project reports and advancements according to the logistic, budget and management plan, scheduled in the project as well as the difficulties encountered until now. Erasmus + staff provides solutions, advices and guidance for next steps.

Erasmus+ Regional Information Day, University “Fan Noli”, Korça

Erasmus+ Regional Information Day was attended on 24th of May, at University of “Fan Noli” in Korça. The whole day event was organized on continuous training to support Albanian Higher Education Institutions to enhance CBHE, Jean Monnet and ICM participation in the framework of 2020 Erasmus+.  The event brought together 80 young people, students and professors, who expressed great interest in the application steps and the criteria. The activity was followed by two sessions according to the target groups concerned (professors and students), for the EMJMD and ICM applications. The second session was followed by the IRO office meeting and project groups. The Best Practices of International Relations Offices were discussed to maximize the opportunities for Erasmus +. An Erasmus+ information fair was organized in the lobby of the University through all the morning.

Seminar and Conference HERE Albania, Korça, date 24 May

On May 24, 2019, in the premises of the Rectorate building of “Fan Noli” University, Korça has been organized seminar “Reforming Study Programs: Preparation of Academic Standards”. The activity is in the framework of the capacity building of High Education, in the preparation of academic standards, in accordance with the bylaws and the Bologna process. The seminar had a wide audience of lecturers, the V/Rector of the University of Korça and coordinators of study programs.

The objectives of the activity are: (a) To transfer knowledge of the elements of academic standards in two important areas: Teaching and Engineering, (b) Building capacity for real implementation of academic standards in the design, review and improvement of study programs. (c) Present good practices for strengthening the practical skills of students with a focus on Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences. The seminar served, in addition to the expected results, of transferring experience in the design, review and reorganization of study programs, in accordance with the requirements of the AL Law and related sub-legal acts.

Awareness of academic staff and management structures to build real processes of review and / or reorganization of study programs as well as capacity building to better understand the quality code requirements in relation to study programs

A particular focus was given to student growth and support and the involvement of all social partners, especially local government and business community.

 

The activity of May 24, continued with the First International Conference on Research Applications and Educational Methods (RAEM). The conference was intended to focus on the main problems that universities have in the country and abroad with regard to the implementation of scientific research and methods of education. The Team of  higher education reform experts introduced case studies in engineering and biology programs.

Erasmus+ Info Session with the Albanian Local Administration

Topic: Erasmus+ Info Session with the Local Administration

Representative of the project “Municipalities for Europe” and Erasmus+ Albania gathered today, on 15th of May, in Tirana on the Info and training session for a local administration, on the framework of the “Training on the Management of European Integration and Communication Units”. During the meeting, the coordinator of the National Office of Erasmus+, Aida Breti introduced the platform and programmes that Erasmus + supports.

The additional value of this meeting was the widespread involvement of the 61 Municipalities that the project covers with the focus into sharing and exchanging the information to the local level. Both programmes have the same aim “to increase the absorption capacity in Albania for European funds and programs”.

Field Monitoring Visit Erasmus+ and ICM Project at Univeristy “Luigj Gurakuqi” of Shkodra.

On 13 May 2019, NEO Albania Staff held a monitoring meeting for the International Credit Mobility project “Reforming doctoral studies in Montenegro and Albania – good practice paradigm”, in implementation by the University of Shkodra “Luigj Gurakuqi”.

The meeting ensures the fairness of criteria used and transparency of the selection process of participation in mobilities. The completion of compulsory documents as Partnership agreement, Quality Assurance, Management Plan, Visibility & Exploitation obligations and the difficulties faced during the processes were discussed. NEO Staff Albania guided and gave recommendations to improve the timely implementation of ICM project.  

The University of Shkodra “Luigj Gurakuqi” during the 2015-2020 timeframe, has 9 ongoing ICM partnerships in Albania.

The Albanian Higher Education Reform Experts (HERE) team in cooperation with the Albanian National Erasmus + Office and the University “Luigj Gurakuqi” of Shkodra organized on May 13th, 2019 at the University of Shkodra premises, the seminar on the “Development and Embedding of Academic Practice: Research-based education”.

The Seminar was focused on Research-based principles of Learning and Teaching Strategies and how they could be implemented in Higher Education Institutions. EU expert, Prof. Melita Kovacevic (EU HE Expert Former Vice-Rector for Research and Technology University of Zagreb), the key speaker of the seminar introduces the experience and guided how these practices could be implemented. Experts of Albania HE Research provide additional research-based experience on Albanian HE context, followed from Albanian student’s personal experiences.

The seminar gathered a total of around 100 participants coming from HEIs (Tirana, Elbasan, Shkodra, Vlora, Gjirokatra, and Durrës), Albanian NEO staff, students and representatives from Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth.
