The pre-departure ceremony for the Joint Masters Degree students held on July 20th, 2016.

Following the call of applications for the Joint Masters and Joint Doctorate opportunities in Erasmus Mundus, 13 Albanian students were awarded full Joint Masters Degree scholarships for the 2016-18 academic cycles.  A pre-departure ceremony for the students was organized on July 20th, 2016 at the Hotel Rogner premises, in Tirana.

The ceremony was greeted by Mr. Redi Shtino, Deputy Minister of Education and Sport and Ms. Xheni Sinakoli, from the EU Delegation in Tirana. During this event, Ms. Edit Dibra, the National Coordinator of the Albanian Erasmus+ Office introduced the participants to the programme’s opportunities for students.

At the end of the ceremony, Mr. Armando Memushi from ‘Erasmus Mundus Alumni Association’ and two other students shared their experience within the Erasmus Mundus’ Joint Masters Degree programme.

Field Monitoring Visit for the Erasmus+ CBHE project “Re@WBC”.

The NEO + staff conducted the field monitoring visit for the Erasmus+ CBHE project “Enhancement of HE research potential contributing to further growth of the WB region – Re@WBC”.

This activity was conducted in two separate meetings, the first held at the University “Ismail Qemali” of Vlora premises, on July 8th, 2016, and the second held at the University of Tirana’s Faculty of Foreign Languages premises, on July 14th, 2016.

The 3 year (2015-18) Re@WBC project aims to enhance the management of human research potential at WBC region universities, in line with national and EU strategies for researchers. The project is coordinated by the University of Nis, in Serbia and involves 12 partner institutions from the region countries: Serbia, Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Montenegro and from EU: United Kingdom, Belgium and Italy.

Regional Info Day at the University “Ismail Qemali” of Vlora, held on July 7th, 2016.

The Albanian Erasmus+ Office organized on July 7th, 2016, at the University “Ismail Qemali” of Vlora premises, the regional ‘Info Day in Erasmus+’.

This event served to promote the Higher Education International dimension of the Erasmus+ programme, which includes for Albania:

 

  • Key Action 1

– Credit Mobility for staff and students, through International Credit Mobility activities and Erasmus Mundus partnerships;

– Degree Mobility through Joint Master Degrees for students (and on-going Erasmus Mundus Joint Master and Doctoral programs);

  • Key Action 2

– Capacity Building in Higher Education, which includes a mobility component for the Western Balkans (Mobility Strand);

  • Jean Monnetprogramme focused in European Integration issues;

 

This activity drew the interest and participation from the University of Vlora’s academic and administrative staff, as well as its students, as well as contributed in improving their awareness on the application process to the Erasmus+ opportunities and on ways to write a successful proposal, through presentation delivered for each programme component. 

Round Table on ‘How to boost the participation of Albanian Higher Education Institution in Erasmus + and Horizon 2020

The Albanian Erasmus + Office in cooperation with the Agency for Research, Technology and Innovation and the Technical Assistance for Union Programmes in Albania organized on May 26th, at Hotel Tirana International the round table on ‘How to boost the participation of Albanian Higher Education Institution in Erasmus + and Horizon 2020.

Prior to the round table, Ms. Belen Enciso, Project Officer from the Education Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency, EACEA conducted a working meeting with the Albanian Higher Education Reform Experts team.

The round table drew high interest and brought together around 100 representatives from state institutions in the higher education field, civil society, higher education reform experts as well as governing authorities, academic staff and international relation offices staff from public and private universities in Tirana, Elbasan, Shkodra, Korça, Vlora and Durres. This activity was greeted by Mr. Redi Shtino, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education and Sport and Ms. Belen Enciso, Project Officer from the Education Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency, EACEA.

During its proceedings, the round table participants worked in four parallel workshops and identified the main issues that currently restrain the participation of Albanian Higher Education Institutions in Erasmus + and Horizon 2020 programmes.

Subsequently, the round table conclusions structured as a recommendations document will be presented to the Ministry of Education and Sport, as inputs in the drafting process of the bylaws for the new law in “Higher Education and Scientific Research in the Albanian Higher Education Institutions”.

Field Monitoring Visit for Tempus Project “Empowering Universities to fulfil their Responsibility for Quality Assurance- EUREQA”

The NEO + staff and the country officer from EACEA, conducted the field monitoring visit on the Tempus EUREQA project. This activity ëas organized at UT’s Faculty of Economy premises, on May 25th, 2016.

The 3 year EUREQA project supported the University of Tirana, University of Korça and University of Shkodra in developing internal quality assurance systems as well as the transfer of good practices from EU universities through trainings, mentoring and study visits.

The project is coordinated by the European University Association, in Belgium and involves 17 partner institutions from Belgium, Netherlands, Austria, Slovenia, Finland, Denmark, Portugal, Ireland, Kosovo, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Albania.

Field Monitoring Visit for the Erasmus + CBHE project “Library Network Support Services”

The NEO + staff and the country officer from EACEA, conducted the field monitoring visit on the Erasmus + CBHE project “Library Network Support Services”. This activity was organized at the Agricultural University of Tirana premises, on May 25th, 2016.

The Erasmus + CBHE project “Library Network Support Services” supports the modernising of libraries in partner country universities through staff development and reforming of their services.

The project is coordinated by the Limerick Institute of Technology, in Ireland and involves 12 partner institutions from Ireland, Germany, Great Britain, Romania, Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Montenegro and Kosovo.

“Information meeting on Erasmus +” held on May 24th, 2016

The “Erasmus + Information meeting” was held on May 24th, 2016 at  PUT’s Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning premises. This activity drew the interest and participation from the Polytechnic University of Tirana’s academic and administrative staff as well as its students.

This event introduced the participants with pertinent information on the current possibilities provided by the Erasmus + programme to the Albanian universities and students. In this regard, Mrs. Belen Enciso, project officer from EACEA and Mrs. Edit Dibra, NEO coordinator provided detailed presentations on the Erasmus + programme components, such as:

– KA2 “Capacity Building in the Field of Higher Education;

– KA 1 International Credit mobility;

– Jean Monnet programme;

In addition the Albanian Erasmus+ office team informed the students on existing possibilities within the Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters Degrees and Erasmus Mundus partnerships.

This event was also valuable for introducing some key elements that enable the preparation of successful project proposals in Erasmus + as well as discussing varies questions and issues raised by the participants about the programme.

Field Monitoring Visit for the Tempus Project “Development of Environmental and Resource Engineering Learning (DEREL)”

The NEO + staff conducted the field monitoring visit on the Tempus DEREL project. This activity was organized at the Polytechnic University of Tirana premises, on 13 May, 2016. The DEREL project developed e Master of Science program in “Geo – Environment” at PUT. The Project was coordinated by the University of Florence in Italy, in cooperation with 17 partner institutions from Italy, Spain, Austria, Germany, Macedonia, Serbia and Albania.

Field Monitoring Visit for the Tempus project “INTERFACE”

The NEO + staff conducted the field monitoring visit for the Tempus project “Developing and setting up measures for initiating, enhancing and sustaining Higher-Education-Society Cooperation- INTERFACE”. This activity was conducted in two separate meetings, the first held at the Polytechnic University of Tirana premises, on April 13th 2016, and the second held at the University of Tirana’s Faculty of Law premises, on April 14th 2016.
The 3 year (2011-14) INTERFACE Tempus project supported the Albanian partner universities in establishing the Interface Centers (IC) in two faculties (UT) and near the rectorate (PUT) and the modernization of their services.
The project was coordinated by the University of Graz, in Austria and involved 19 partner institutions from Austria, England, Bulgaria, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Serbia, FYROM and Albania.

Field Monitoring Visit for the Tempus project “Quality in Research – QiR”

The NEO + staff conducted the field monitoring visit for the Tempus project “Quality in Research – QiR”. This activity was conducted in two separate meetings, the first held at the University of Shkodra premises, on March 24th 2016, and the second held at the Polytechnic University of Tirana premises, on April 13th 2016.
The 3 year (2011-14) QiR Tempus project aided the Albanian partner universities in the introduction of quality assurance in scientific research and in aligning their research standards with those of the EU member states.
The project was coordinated by the University of Sarajevo, in Bosnia & Herzegovina and involved 13 partner institutions from Germany, Austria, France, Finland, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Serbia and Albania.
