Field Monitoring Visit for the Tempus Project “Competency Based Curriculum Reform in Nursing and Caring in Western Balkan Universities – CCNURCA”

The NEO + staff conducted the field monitoring visit on the Tempus CCNURCA project. This activity was organized at the University of Korca “Fan S. Noli” premises, on September 28th, 2015.

The 3 year CCNURCA project supports reforming the higher nursing education and align it with the competence based education and professional standards, set for all European Union member states.

The project is coordinated by the Katholieke Hogeschool Sint-Lieven, in Belgium and involves four Albania partners, three universities (University “Fan S. Noli” of Korça, University “Eqrem Cabej” of Gjirokastra and University “Luigj Gurakuqi of Shkodra), and the Ministry of Health.

Field Monitoring Visit for the Tempus Project “Renewable Energy Studies in Western Balkan Countries –RESI”

The NEO + staff conducted the field monitoring visit on the Tempus RESI project. This activity was organized at the “Agricultural University of Tirana” premises, on 29 June 2015.

The 3 year RESI project supports the introduction of MSc and PHDs study programmes on Renewable Energy in the Western Balkans as well as bridge HEI’s and business companies operating in this field.

The project is coordinated by the University of Hohenheim – Stuttgart and involves 15 partner institutions from Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Montenegro and Albania.

Field Monitoring Visit for the Tempus Project “Developing Third Mission activities in Albanian Universities (U3M – AL)”.

The NEO + staff conducted the field monitoring visit on the Tempus U3M – AL project. This activity was organized at the University “Aleksander Moisiu” premises, on 19 June, 2015.The U3M-AL project supports the role of Albanian universities in the social and economic growth of the country by promoting and organizing 3M activities in seven Albanian Universities.

The Project is prepared by the University of León in Spain in cooperation with 12 partner institutions from Spain, Italy, Finland, and Albania.

Erasmus + National Seminar on ‘Raising capacities of Albanian universities for internal governance

The Albanian Erasmus + Office in cooperation with the Albanian HERE team (Higher Education Reform Experts), and with the support of the Ministry of Education and Sports organized on June 16, 2015 at the premises of University “Aleksandër Xhuvani” in Elbasan, the national seminar on “Raising capacities of Albanian universities for internal governance”.

This event brought together academic staff members from universities in Tirana, Elbasan, Shkodra, Korca, Gjirokatra, Durres, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Education and Sports. The seminar covered the current governing challenges in universities, from the institutional to the department level, as well as changes brought by the Reform and the New Law of Higher Education in Albania.

In this activity, the lectors introduced and discussed some of the main successful models of university governance in European developed countries, as well as covered the principal aspects of department’s internal organisation.

Subsequently, the seminar conclusions structured in the form of recommendations document will feed the drafting process of the bylaws.
The seminar benefited from the inputs of the international expert Mr. Stephen Hagen, Professor Emeritus, Deputy Dean for Management and Governance in the National Research Centre in Saint Petersburg, Deputy Chancellor of the University of Wales, Director for Research, Business and Innovation in the University of Bristol Etc

Field Monitoring Visit for the Tempus Project “Innovation and Implementation of the Curriculum Vocational Studies in the Field of Digital Television and Multimedia – RICUM”

The NEO + staff conducted the field monitoring visit on the Tempus RICUM project. This activity was organized at the University “Aleksander Moisiu” premises, on 25 May 2015.

The 3 year RICUM project supports the development and implementation of digital television and multimedia in Western Balkan countries, through innovating vocational studies curriculum and designing curriculum for specialized professional studies in the field of M&DTV.

The Project is prepared by the VISER School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Applied Studies from Serbia in cooperation with 11 partner institutions from France, Slovenia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Montenegro and Albania.

Field Monitoring Visit for the Tempus Project “Higher Education Action for Rights Teaching – HEART”

The NEO + staff conducted the field monitoring visit on the Tempus HART project. This activity was organised at the University “Marin Barleti” premises, on 27 April 2015.

The Tempus Project “Putting Human Rights at the Heart of Higher Education in the Western Balkans – HEART” aims to support the establishment and development of multi-disciplinary education programmes that focus on human rights and citizenship both at the undergraduate and postgraduate level in higher education institutions in the Western Balkans. It involves a consortium of eleven universities from Albania, Serbia, Kosovo, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Montenegro with four EU universities from Germany, Sweden, The Republic of Ireland and the UK.

Field Monitoring Visit for the Tempus Project “Sport Professions – Education, Employment, Development in the Balkan Region- SPEED”

The NEO + staff conducted the field monitoring visit on the Tempus Speed project. This activity was undertaken in two separate meetings, organised at the Tirana University of Sports premises, on 27 March 2015, and at the University “Luigj Gurakuqi” of Shkodra premises, on 30 March 2015.

The 3-year SPEED project (December 2013 – November 2016) goal is to extend the academic reform in Sport Science area, involving Western Balkan (WB) HEIs from different countries beyond existing conflicts, easing tensions & fostering harmonisation in the region & with EU in line with accession policies.

The project has been developed by the University of Rome “Foro Italico”, three universities in Albania (Sports University of Tirana, University of Shkodra and University of Elbasan), the University of Prishtina (Kosovo under UNSC resolution 1244/99) and three universities in Serbia (University of Belgrade, University of Niš and University of Novi Sad), in partnership with three more universities in Europe (National & Kapodistrian University of Athens, University of Southern Denmark, University of Vienna).

7 (seven) Regional Info Days were organized by the National Erasmus+ Office in all Albanian Public universities, attracting  a great turn-out, with more than 100 staff and students attending each of them.Very lively and constructive debates took place and media coverage ensured better local dissemination. HERE National Workshop in Shkodra Univiersity

The Albanian Erasmus + Office in cooperation with the Albanian HERE team (Higher Education Reform Experts) organized the third national workshop on “Empowering universities to fulfill their responsibility for internal quality assurance”, on 19-th of December 2014, at the premises of the University of Shkodra “Luigj Gurakuqi”.

The event was attended by over 120 participants, coming from all the Albanian universities, staff of higher education agencies, ministry officials and students. The aim of the seminar was to encourage reflection and discussion among academics, experts and ministerial representatives from all over the country on the general challenges and trends in Internal Quality Assurance mechanisms in Albanian Higher Education Institutions and the role of Tempus projects in that perspective.  For this reason, representatives of different Tempus project with focus on Quality assurance shared their experiences and discussed the impact of Tempus projects in the improvement of internal quality assurance mechanisms and processes. A very important input was given by the representatives ofEUREQA TEMPUS project (ref 530631-2012-1-BE-TEMPUS-JPGR), Mr Fatmir Mema, the vice dean of the Economic Faculty, Tirana University and Mrs Arjeta Troshani, the Dean of the Economic Faculty, Shkodra University. Moreover, Mrs. Anila Paparisto, HERE and member of the National Council for the Reform of Higher Education in Albania gave a very interesting panorama of the main challenges on Internal QA provoking lively debates among the participants. The results of this national workshop are expected to feed into the debate on the Accreditation Reform which is currently in place. This event had a very large media coverage.

National Info Day Erasmus+ (7-th of November 2014)

The Albanian Erasmus+ Office organized on the 7-th of November 2014 the “Erasmus + National  Info Day” at the premises of the Polytechnic University of Tirana. 

The main scope of this Information Day was to promote the international higher education dimension of the Erasmus+ programme which includes for Albania: Credit mobility (international opening of Erasmus); Degree mobility through joint master degrees (and on-going Erasmus Mundus joint master and doctoral programmes); Capacity Building action which includes a mobility component for the neighbouring countries and the Western Balkans;Jean Monnet activities focused in European Integration issues.

This event was attended by more than 160 representatives coming from all the Albanian universities including academic, high management and administrative staff, staff of higher education agencies, Ministry of Education and Sport officials and students. Presentations for each component of Erasmus+ when Albania is eligible to apply and relevant training on how to write successful proposals was provided by Mr. Franco Burgio, project officer from the EACEA and by Mrs. Edit Dibra, the national coordinator of Erasmus+ for Albania.
