Representatives from the Polytechnic University of Tirana, the University of Sports of Tirana and
Luigj Gurakuqi University of Shkodra participated in the International EAIE Conference in
Toulouse, France, from September 18 – 20, 2024.
EAIE, the European Association for International Education, founded in 1989, is the European
center for expertise, networking, and resources in the internationalization of higher education.
The conference had massive participation from universities across Europe and around the
world, with over 7,000 participants.
One session of the conference, with the theme: “What’s New in the Western Balkans: Towards
Effective Internationalization of Higher Education”, was dedicated to the universities of the
Balkan countries. During this session, the collaboration between the Polytechnic University of
Tirana and Saxion University in the Netherlands was highlighted as a success story, particularly
in student and staff exchanges and especially for Blended Mobility.
The conference enabled the Albanian HEIs representatives to establish new collaborative
contacts with several universities such as ITM Nord Europe – France, Instituto Superior Técnico
/ Universidade de Lisboa – Portugal, Algebra University – Croatia, Istanbul Bilgi University –
Turkey, Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen – Germany, Rey Juan Carlos University – Spain,
Marmara University – Turkey, Université de Lorraine – France, Pädagogische Hochschule
Luzern – Switzerland, IMT Atlantique – France, WSB Academy – Poland, Duzce University –
Turkey etc.
